Side by Side Q&A’s ~ 8/17/12 & 11/19/12 ~ Hollywood, CA
The best part about being born and raised in Hollywood, Ca? SEEING FREE MOVIES BEFORE THE GENERAL PUBLIC!! I have attended movie screenings since I was a pre-teen and love them!!! My favorites are films without credits. Films the studio’s test with focus groups to get instant feedback! They are the best! Sometimes they completely change once they get released! That’s how I saw “Tootsie,” “Cry Baby,” “Lady Hawk” and so many more.
Summer of 2012 I got wind of a screening for a film called “Side By Side.” I was excited!! One of my favorite modern thespians had stepped out of his comfort zone ~ acting ~ and is Producer/Interview Host for a film that discusses the impact technology has had on film.
This would be the first time I would get to use my new digital camera and I had no idea how it would respond with little to no lighting. The Q&A was fabulous, my camera not so much!!!
August 17th is the day Elvis Presley crossed over and has always been a sad day for me. In 2012 that all changed! Thank ye, Sir Reeves!!! It is now a happy day of remembrance!!
Do excuse my giggles and Eartha Kitt purring!! Reeves MADE me do it!!! He brings it out of me, don’t know what to tell ya :^p …
The video is not the whole Q&A, I started out taking photo’s, then I realized “What the bloody hell am I doing, I could have that soothing and sensual voice (Reeves) for my very own! My camera does video! Woo hoo!” Here are the few stills I did take:

I felt weird taking snapshots, but the dude had his eyes closed the majority of the time…so I snapped!

Summer flew by. As the days grew shorter and nights grew longer, I received an invite to an industry screening for “Side By Side.” It read: “Join Director Chris Keneally and Producer Keanu Reeves for a Q&A after the film!”
In even smaller type, I was invited for drinks afterward with the film makers. The location to be given at the Q&A. I got extremely excited, although, I seriously did not believe Reeves would show for the drinks part of the shindig. Only way to find out was to leave my cave and GO to the screening!
The Arc Light kept the theatre dimmer than usual for the entire Q&A. I sat in the front row in hopes that I could capture more delicious treasures as I did in August. Unfortunately, t’was too dark to get exquisite shots. I was not inspired to post them until now.
I started with video, then realized ~ it’s way too dark and I haven’t a clue if audio is sufficient.
I realized video was out of the equation. I switched to non-flash photo. Do forgive the poor quality. No light makes for fuzziness. Still, I love them…
The audience was filled with curious and inquisitive souls, making for an invigorating evening. True to the invites words, we were invited to an undisclosed location for drinks and snacks. I debated on going. That Reeves fella, would he be there? A gal I met at the screening said the only way to find out is to follow the crowd to the place. Well, alrighty then.
I am so glad I went!! I had one of the most magical evenings. Thank you, Sir Reeves and crew for an intellectually stimulating, warm, comfortable, beautiful and oddly, romantic evening. It was so much fun that I forgot all about the drinks and snacks. Oh, wait…I ate all Reeves grapes when he wasn’t lookin’! Oopsies O.O sorry ’bout that.
Not only did I get to hang out all evening chatting up Reeves, I got to meet and talk with his partner in crime on his “Side By Side” journey!! You should have seen Keneally’s face when I asked if he touched the Yoda statue at ‘The Ranch.’ Hee hee hee. How could you not run up and give Yoda a big olde hug when Lucas isn’t looking, of course!!! I’m sure he thought I was being naughty…silly boy ~ just don’t trample the buddlings. Hug him and run, dude, hug him and run.
All I can say is I want MORE, MORE, MORE!!!!!
And thank you, that was the best invite to a screening E V E R !!!!
